Local Accounting Firm Hosts 6th Annual Tournament to Fund Scholarships for Rockville Students

South Windsor – The Manchester-based accounting firm of Montovani, Murray, Nemphos & Tierinni, LLC (MMNT) held its annual event on August 16 at Topstone Golf Course in honor of Matthew Gauruder, a Rockville teen who died tragically in 2001.

One hundred and twenty one golfers participated in the 2010 event. The tournament has raised over $70,000 since its inception in 2002.

Many local business people were on hand, including members of the Minnechaug BNI Chapter, who golfed and donated services to show support for chapter president Matt Tierinni, a principal member at MMNT.

Playing under the BNI banner were Gary Harrigan owner of Evergreen Audio Video Comm, LLC, Darcy Lucas, co-owner of Mission Fitness, LLC, Michael Noel of Sage Payment Solutions and Dave Azevedo, who works for Pratt & Whitney.

Other Minnechaug BNI Members included:

• Claudette Azevedo owner of Andree’s Waffalloons who served the

world’s most delicious Belgian waffles before the shotgun start.

• Katalin Walinski, owner of Massage By Kat, LLC, who kept golfers

relaxed with onsite chair massages.

• Carrie Draghi, owner of Carrie Draghi Photography in South Glastonbury,

who made everyone look fabulous in photos.

• Mike Marchand, co-owner of Ajar Communications, who offered

onsite press photography and PR-related services.

• John Suchecki, owner of Mr. Electric, who sponsored a tee-sign.

The Matthew Gauruder Scholarship Fund is dedicated to helping young and talented Rockville High School seniors who have been accepted to a college or technical school, participated in a school or recreational sport, and demonstrated a friendly attitude.

The Minnechaug Chapter of BNI Hold’s Visitors’ Day

Local Professionals Offer Educational Health and Wellness Fair to the Community

Kat Walinski - Massage By Kat Hebron – Health experts from The Minnechaug BNI Chapter held a free informational fair at Blackledge Country Club on Sunday July 18 to share their expertise and advice with Hebron and Glastonbury residents and surrounding towns.

“This topic is a natural fit for our customers, since golfers are physically active people,” said Erik Lucas, Manager of the Blackledge River Tavern and Banquet Hall. “But the truth is, the whole community can benefit from this information. So we’re happy when educational events like these happen here.”

Local Business Referral Group Hits Milestone

Glastonbury – The Minnechaug BNI group capped a recent membership drive by adding
6 new members, increasing the group’s ranks to 31.

The group consists of local entrepeneurs and business owners who are committed to
growing their companies by significantly increasing the qualified referral business they
receive. The group has been quite successful in this regard, and in May celebrated their
fourth year in existence.

Minnechaug is a thriving and energetic marketing group and meets on Wednesdays at
7 a.m. in the Regatta Room at the Mountain Laurel Senior Living Community, 1177
Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury. Presently, the group is seeking to fill positions for the following
professions: event planner, landscaper, plumber, auto body repair, copier sales,
painter, handyman and commerical realtor.
